Gamla
The name Gamla comes from the hebrew word "gamal"-
camel, this name was given as the sounds of the hills reminds
the sounds of a camel.
Gamla is a famous archeological site, another legend of the
wars of Israel. The sad story Gamla tells of refuges escaping
the Romans took place here. It is a memorial for 9000 jews
that were killed by the Romans leaving only two women from
the whole community.
There are three light hiking trips you can take, each marked
in a different color. These trips are less recommended on
a hot sunny day. If you want you can walk towards Gamla's
waterfall, the highest waterfall in the Golan (51m) which
leads to another smaller waterfall, they are both really nice
to visit.
If you have plenty of time and you are interested in archeological
sites you can head towards Dolmens - a table shaped stone,
4000y old, from the middle Bronze age.
Just next to Gamla you can find Katzrim, here you are welcome
to enjoy a sweet glance at the Katzrin Doll Museum, where
you can see the manufacture of dolls and a nice show rooms
with all of the famous figures of children stories.
Another museum to watch out for is the Golan Archeological
Museum (information on opening hours you can get on 04-6961350).
If you have the time you can also go see the Sha'ar Hagolan
(-the gates of the Golan), which is basically an information
center, here you can watch a short movie about the Golan Heights.
